BIG DISNEY KID TRIP + my NEW FAV HOTEL!

We just finished our BIG KID TRIP to Disneyland omg. I 100/10 recommend it. This trip was supposed to be our two families going, but one case of Norovirus later (sorry Arrrrrrlo) had us changing plans quickly! Karyssa ditched her husband, I left the little behind and we piled in the van and were off!

We booked the Family Suite at Castle Inn + Suites so we had plenty of room for them to stay with us!
This is my new favorite place to stay on Harbor, I loved it SO much.

TOP THREE FAV THINGS about the Castle Inn + Suites

1. BIG rooms/suites for bigger families
2. FREE FREE FREE parking!! This doesn't happen often anymore!
3.  9 minute walk to Disneyland gates!!

BONUS! Super duper kind staff and they reset your room daily :)

**Update! We recently did a trip to The Castle Inn again (Sept 2024) and stayed in the Executive Suite with our family of 6!

The Executive Suite has one giant room room (two queen beds and a pull out sofa) + a bathroom.

You can book the Executive Suite at the Castle Inn through Get Away Today, and if you purchase your tickets with it, you can use code HAPPY10 for a discount.

NEXT THE FAMILY SUITE!!!

The Family Suite
has TWO rooms (king bed and two queen beds) + a bathroom.

The first room is when you enter and it has a king size bed, fridge, flat screen, and lots of mirrors! Woot woot!

The second room has two queen size beds, a flat screen, and a full sink! I loved this so much! This room has a door that closes so if you need/want separation, it works so well. It can be hard to find rooms that sleep 6 comfortably (with no one on a pullout) so this is such a good option.

Did I mention that this hotel is only 9 minutes from the park gates?!

You cannot get better than that!

You can book this hotel through Get Away Today, and if you purchase your tickets with it, you can use code HAPPY10 for a discount.

All three kids were over 46" so it was Stoics first time on Indiana Jones (big deal, he's been waiting!).
Once you hit 40" you can ride almost everything at Disney (except Matterhorn 42", Indiana Jones 46", and Incredicoaster 48"). So this trip was pretty special.

DON'T FORGET! You have to be 7 years old to ride rides alone so that is how it worked with a group of 5 on the bigger rides (Sawyer is 8). So Stoic got to be my riding buddy and I loved it!

Another fun first for us was doing the Parade Dessert Dining Package!

Disneyland offers Dining Packages where you pay per person and get:
- Food of some kind (sometimes a pre-set meal, sometimes you can choose)
- Front Row seating to the parade!

They had a new Pixar Parade "Better Together" and I was DYING to see it front row. It was $65/person (age 2 and under is free) so it was definitely a splurge, but I couldn't help myself. I needed to try it!

You arrive about 30-45 before the parade starts and they take you to your assigned table. If your group is 5, you'll have your own table. If not, they may fill your table with people. The table next to us were a bunch of solo people.

They immediately arrive with your server and provide a dessert/charcuterie plate for all paid tickets.
Then they serve bottomless drinks! Two speciality drinks, a mocktail and a coffee blend, and then cans of sprite, coke or diet coke.

My review? 10/10!!!!

The desserts and drinks were an AWESOME treat, everything was themed and I loved it!
But the coolest part is the parade. You are RIGHT THERE and no one else is in front of you, or on the other side of the parade route, so the characters are interacting with you and your kids the whole time. It was SO SPECIAL!

I would never ever pay for the same parade twice but absolutely would pay for this for new parades!

Forever grateful for the opportunities to make these memories with my oldest babe.
More recaps coming soon.

YOUR GUIDE TO LEGOLAND CALIFORNIA

We just got home from Legoland and you KNOW I have some tips for you. Every place has its quirks, so you want to make sure you go in PREPARED so that you can have the best trip EVER! Here are my top take-a-ways I want you to know!

1. Stay at the hotel!!! Your kids will love it. The theme Ig is out of control, there are okay areas galore, the disco elevator, the treasure hunt to FREE LEGOS, the fun literally never ends. My kids loved even just staying in the hotel room because their area was so cool. The hotel comes with FREE breakfast (a really big spread) and EARLY ENTRY! So ya get perks !! There are two hotels, same distance from the park, Legoland and Castle. We picked the Legoland and just walked to the castle one night for their playground!!

  1. 2. Do not buy anything full price, they always have a deal on tickets and packages. We did a package for kids go free, so our hotel for two nights, park hopper tickets (which gives you access to the aquarium) for two days for two adults and two kids was $1100. The 40% off one does the same thing. Heres a link to that package!

  2. 3. When you enter the park, have a plan then loop around. Whenever I go to a park I don’t know, I pick our starting point then just go in a circle. We chose Coastersarous, then Ninjago and then went went in a complete circle abndrode every ride.

    4. If you want to REALLY enjoy Legoland, go on an off day. During the week during the school year is PRIME TIME.
This park actually has days where almost no one is there and that made our trip magic. Friday was actually EMPTY. Like rides were going half full bc no one else was there lol. Saturday was PACKED and I’m sorry but I’m not waiting 45 minutes for a carnival type airplane ride lol.

  3. 5.
If you are going during a busy day, the
reserve and ride is the way to go. It’s VERY pricey, but worth it in my opinion. It’s not like Disneyland, but they teach you how to use it when you get there and set it up on your phone at the desk (you must do this).

    6. Food
! I may have just been picky that night but I was not a big fan the Bricks dinner buffet ðŸ˜‚ and I literally eat hospital food and hamburger helper and love it! I think it just wasn’t what I was craving but it was $111 for 4 of us so I was disappointed! Do room service or order from the other restaurants, they are much much better.

    7. Enjoy the breakfast buffet!
If you go at 8:30am then you can eat then get straight into line for the park and get in early!! Friday they let us in at 9:30, Saturday they let us in at 9:00am! I REALLY enjoyed Breakfast, way better than most included breakfasts at other hotels.

  4. 8. The ages of your kids matter.
I would NEVER EVER go to this park without my kids. A teenager would MOST LIKEY not be thrilled here, unless they were really easy going or a Lego fanatic. My kids are 3 and 5 and woof, they thought it was actually heaven on earth.

  5. 9. With that being said,
you don’t have to love legos to enjoy this place! I kinda liked legos before going, now I literally want a Lego set for my birthday ðŸ˜‚

    10. Rider swap is so much easier here than Disney
. You all wait in line together, then right as the group gets on, you step to the side and then you get right on when your group gets off. It’s magical.

    11. The park hopper allows you access to the aquarium.
It was fun and we all enjoyed it! Nothing special but it took us about 45 minutes looking at everything. We did it on our way out both days.

    12. I had no clue what a
mini figure was but it’s a little Lego guy. You can bring some from home to trade, or make one to trade. My boys made one to trade, traded, then cried because they missed their old guy and traded back ðŸ˜‚bring some lame ones from home to trade for cooler ones.

FAVORITE FOOD IN THE PARKS

1.
Everyone was right. Get the Apple Fries. They are next to the submarine ride.

  1. 2. Everything is ramen was bomb. Loved the pork belly ramen, it was so good! This is in the Lego Movie Land, right past the Coastersaurous.
    3. I got a birthed and kids meal from burger kitchen and it was good! I got the boys a meal and $3 collectible cups that they were stoked about! ðŸŽ‰ and you can use them at home!

  2. RANDOM NOTE!!! Dude. Why do theme parks do this? Most the food didn’t open until NOON. I’m STARVING BY NOON hahahah. So silly, bring snacks.

TOP FIVE RIDES

  1. 1. Emmett’s Flying Adventure - 40” This ride is like a HYPER CHAOTIC version of soarin over California and the kids will love it lol. Don’t run straight here bc it doesn’t open until 10am BUT you can rope drop it right outside the land.

  2. 2. Coastersaurous (early access) - 35” This coaster is a fun coaster for littles and my kids loved it. It’s nice bc it’s right next to the entrance and it opens with early hotel access so we did it first!

  3. 3. Ninjago (early access) - All Heights The closet description to this one is WEBSLINGERS and it’s a very popular ride. It’s all heights and the lines get long. This one opens with early hotel access so hit it quick!

  4. 4. Safari Ride - 35” This ride opens whenever they feel like it, but not with early access. It’s a cute two seater where you see different Lego animals.

  5. 5. Lego Technic Coaster - 42” This is the biggest coaster in the park and seriously FUN. It’s comparable to Goofys Sky School, but honestly better. It’s got a drop, it’s long, and really fun!!!

Things I like better about Lego Land than Disneyland ðŸ˜³

  1. 1. The hotel distance from the park entrance. It's right outside. It's fabulous.
  2. 2. The rider swap situation. Instead of waiting outside the ride then using the fast pass lane, you get to stay as a group then wait right at the exit!!
  3. 3. Technic Coaster. It totally beats Goofys Flight School!
  4. 4. Deep Sea Adventure (it actually has real fish!)
  5. 5. Ghost town actually means ghost town. At Disney, Ghost Town means slightly less people. At Legoland, Ghost Town means, WHERE IS EVERYONE hahhaha. It was amazing.

Use this Crowd Calendar to see what dates aren't busy!

Let’s be real. Mama ain’t trading in her Disneyland annual pass for a lifetime at LegoLand but I seriously loved it. My kids were SO happy and so were we. I would absolutely go once a year, as long as it was during a non busy day at the park.

Now book your trip to Legoland already!!! Love you! Kels
